Deploying the Company Portal application is essential for organizations leveraging Microsoft Intune for mobile device and application management. The Company Portal provides employees with access to company resources, apps, and device management capabilities while enabling administrators to enforce security policies. This blog post will guide you through the process of deploying the Company Portal app using Intune, ensuring a seamless user experience and efficient management. We will also show how to assign the company portal to your Autopilot deployment if you are using it. We will target the Windows version but it’s also available to deploy on other supported OS.

Microsoft announced a New look for Intune Company Portal app for Windows on June 3rd 2024.

Microsoft states :

With the updated design, users will see improvements in user experience for the HomeDevices, and Downloads & updates pages. The new design is more intuitive and highlights areas where users need to take action.

Our stake is that the change is not breathtaking. It’s more a visual improvement than a major release.

What Is the Company Portal?

The Microsoft Intune Company Portal is a critical application that serves as the user-facing component of Intune. It allows employees to:

  • Receive updates and notifications
  • Access and install work-related apps approved by your company
  • Manage their enrolled devices
  • Comply with company policies and resolve access issues

The new Company portal app is available for desktop (Windows and macOS) and mobile (Android and iOS) devices. You must have a work or school account through your organization to sign in to the app.

You users can used these link to download the new company portal app :

This is great if your user wants to install the company portal themselves but our blog post will show how to deploy it to every managed device automatically. We will also show how to assign the company portal to your Autopilot deployment if you are using it. We will target the Windows version but it’s also available to deploy on other supported OS.

Deploy Company Portal Intune – Overview

Before going technical, let’s understand the situation with the new company portal version and the “new” Microsoft store :

A reddit user explains the situation in this thread :

Microsoft is moving to a new Microsoft Store. The “current” Company Portal app is on the old store, so it’s a legacy app that will soon be gone. There is a banner at the top of the application if you open it in Intune. Same goes for any apps you may have deployed using the old store. Deployments simply need to switch to the new app store instead.

If you’re currently deploying the Company portal using Microsoft Store for Business App (Online version) with assignment to device-based groups, we suggest removing your deployments and use this proposed method. Your company portal will update automatically.
